La Classette
AN EDUCATIONAL TRAJECTORY BY
LA CASSETTE
La Classette (yeah, there's a little wordplay with the 'L' going on) was our first step into creative education. In collaboration with Gemeente Utrecht and Vogelfrei Utrecht, we created a summer school designed to equip young creatives with the tools to bring their own visions to life.
Masterclasses were taught by professionals from across the cultural and creative sector, covering everything from finance to filmmaking, graphic design to set building. Over six weekends, a group of twenty aspiring creatives worked through every essential aspect of event production, culminating in Get To It, an event entirely created by the students themselves, a testament to how far they'd come.
The second edition, held at Kapitaal Utrecht, took a bigger, bolder shape. Instead of stretching across ten Saturdays, the programme condensed into three consecutive weeks, with a clearer split between disciplines: design, video, spaces, and events.
More than a learning experience, La Classette became a launchpad. We've stayed close with former participants as they've continued to develop professionally. Several went on to internships they found through the programme, including a placement at Het Buro, the creative video arm of Topnotch, while others became set builders at Beton-T in Utrecht.
In true La Cassette fashion, we documented the process closely and built a full campaign around both editions, helping the programme grow and reach more prospective students. We worked closely with filmmakers to capture a introduction video for the second edition and a dreamy, nostalgic feeling aftermovie. Also we designed posters which were screenprinted and distributed around Utrecht, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
