Nelcon - IQ

CREATIVE DIRECTION
SCRIPT WRITING

Nelcon, an up-and-coming rapper from Utrecht, needed a video that matched a sound rooted in something rawer than most of what's coming out of the scene right now.

His management came in with a clear reference point: a punk aesthetic, the garage energy of early Blink-182, old school '90s grunge, visuals that felt scratched-up and lived-in, not polished.

I wrote the script and translated that reference into a concrete visual direction, then took on creative direction across the shoot days themselves. A number of the shots were mine to conceive on set, framing moments that leaned into the grain and imperfection the references called for, rather than smoothing them out. A selection of those are highlighted here as stills. And, in full '90s aesthetic, we opted for a 4:3 framing.
