YOU AIN’T SEEN NOTHING YET
In collaboration with Gemeente Utrecht and typography artist Guido de Boer, we transformed a public space into a statement with a large-scale wall artwork that challenges perception.
The concept grew out of our own relationship with night culture: a place where talent thrives, friendships take shape, and new cultural movements are born. Together with Guido, I helped shape that idea into something the piece could carry: what you see is what you get (and what you don't see, you won't either). The work asks passersby to look past their first impression, to sit with the unfamiliar for a moment longer, and to find something they didn't expect.
As part of the creative direction, I helped bring the concept to life and wrote the poetic piece that goes with it, inviting the viewer to think beyond the surface.
True to La Cassette's style, we documented the whole process with a short, humorous documentary of the painting itself taking shape.
Night culture is a necessity. In the dark talent develops, friendships blossom and culture is born.While at first shallowness may arise, think about what you see and what you get.
Think about how you thought this was just a wall decoration.
Think about the thoughts you are experiencing right now.
Think about you thinking about something different than before,
just by stepping onto unfamiliar soil.Those who dare to take on the challenge of not knowing will find themselves flourish into new feelings, new promising experiences.Dare to discover.
Nachtcultuur is noodzakelijk. In het donker ontstaan talenten, bloeit vriendschap en wordt cultuur geboren.Ondanks dat een gevoel van oppervlakkigheid zou kunnen worden ervaren, probeer te bedenken wat je ziet en wat je krijgt.
Bedenk dat je dacht dat dit slechts een muurschildering was.
Bedenk welke gevoelens je op dit moment ervaart.
Bedenk hoe je nadenkt over iets anders dan voordat je hier was, simpelweg door onbekend terrein te trotseren.Degene die durft het onbekende te verkennen zal bloeien en door nieuwe ervaringen, veelbelovende avonturen meemaken.Durf te ontdekken.
